Helen’s life drawing classes offer a structured life drawing/painting environment designed to give technical advice in key areas such as proportion, perspective, anatomy, line, gesture, tone and colour.

Participants are encouraged to use this knowledge as a basis through which to develop their own style, using a wide range of approaches and mediums.

Currently life drawing classes are held on a Monday evening 7-9pm and Tuesday 4-6 and 7-9pm.

All classes are suitable for beginners!

Helen has over 30 years of experience teaching life drawing at Leeds, Bradford and Craven Colleges as well as 18 years for Granary Arts.

Classes are 2 hour sessions and start at 4-6pm or 7-9pm

A full programme of workshop and events from Annie Sloan to Printmaking to life drawing classes.

Annie Sloan Basic and Intermediate Workshop

On this 3hr course, you will begin to understand how inspiration and preparation is key to the perfect painted piece. You will also learn basic and intermediate skills and techniques using Annie Sloan paints and waxes on sample boards. By the end of the class, you will go away with a head full of knowledge and have the ability to start and finish your own painted pieces at home with confidence.

The workshop is 10-1pm and £65pp, the price includes all materials and light refreshments. 10% discount will also be a available for all Annie Sloan products purchased.

Advanced Annie Sloan workshop
A 4hr workshop where you work on two sample boards, classical and more modern applications. On the classical board several different techniques including rough lux, gold leaf application, craqueleur, applying gilding waxes, white washing, blending and frottage. On the modern board detailed brush work, stencilling, sgraffito, ombré, image transfers and soft distressing!! We then finished off the boards by using different grade sandpaper’s for distressing and used waxes to seal the paint and to enhance colours and textures.

The workshop is 10-2pm and £75pp, the price includes all materials and light refreshments. 10% discount will also be a available for all Annie Sloan products purchased.

Record Player - Helen Peyton

Helen Peyton

Helen is an artist printmaker who works with lino to create unique and detailed artworks, using colour, line and form. Artist and Creative Practitioner at The Hepworth Wakefield her reduction linocuts are based on the artefacts in museum collections.

Recent projects have included the Turner Prize nominated Smart Gallery, a new concept in exhibitions, Helen invited the public to loan items they deemed important and she made beautiful artworks in response.

Based in the North Yorkshire Dales, yet nationally regarded, her works are exhibited at the Royal Academy, Scottish Academy, Leeds City Art Gallery and collected all over the world.
